Joan Hudson

Joan J. Hudson, 91, died at her home on June 21, 2014, with her family in attendance. She was born May 3, 1923 in Lakewood, Ohio, the daughter of Julia (Haag) and Edwin Poese.
Joan earned her BA in Home Economics from Kent State University. She married Edward Hudson after World War II and they celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary earlier this month. Joan had an extensive career as a junior high and high school teacher. At home, she enjoyed sewing and also won awards for her watercolor painting. She swam regularly at the Bangor YMCA. She was actively involved in the life and community of Reedemer Lutheran Church in Bangor.
She is survived by her husband Edward of Bangor and her brother Alan Poese in Michigan. She also leaves behind her two daughters: Clare Payne and husband Lewis of Bangor; and Audrey Cecil and husband Steven of Dedham, MA; and her three adult grandchildren Julia, Ned, and Carrie.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Winterberry Heights for their loving care of Joan while she lived there.
A private family service will be held for Joan and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Those who wish to remember Joan in a special way may make gifts in her memory to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 540 Essex St, Bangor 04401, or New Hope Hospice, Inc. P.O. Box 70, Eddington, ME, 04428.
