BREWER - John Edward Connick, 85, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather departed this life June 20, 2014. He was born Jan. 23, 1929 in Brewer to John Eugene Connick and Vina Mae McFarland. John had two brothers, Kenneth Baker and Robert Connick who have both traveled on before him.
John's first job was caring for the grounds at Mount Hope Cemetery in Bangor. John worked for many years as a draftsman for Great Northern Paper Company, Seven Islands Land Company, as well as being self-employed. John was a Korean War Veteran serving in the US Army. He was a man of countless talents: an accomplished artist, a carpenter, a frequent traveler to the North Maine Woods and the proud owner of a 1952 Army Jeep. Most importantly, John was a loving and devoted husband and father, a man of honor and integrity, and a man we were blessed to have had in our lives and one we shall miss without measure.
John is survived by the love of his life, Nancy Ann (Armstrong) Connick, whom he met when they were but 16. They would have been wed 65 years on August 21, 2014. He is also survived by three daughters, Christine "Tina" Payne and her husband, Ralph, Roseann "Rosie" Davis and her husband, Steven, and Denise DeBeck and her husband, Garth. His legacy continues with 8 grandchildren, Nathan, Eric, Mandy, Harrison, Arielle, Shane, Jennifer and Nicole; 14 great grandchildren, Nicholas, Logan, Morgan, Annissa, Sierra, Reice, Gabriel, Iesha, Autumn, Joseph, Travia, Kadence, Zachary and Isaac; and two great-great-grandchildren, Sophia and Addison. John is survived by a special sister-in-law, Marilyn Curtis and her daughters, Donna, Sharon and Teresa; and niece, Gail, and her son, Ryan.
Special thanks to Paul and Greg, who have been kind and caring neighbors and friends. Thank you to the ladies of the Brewer Public Library, whose enthusiasm and efforts to help John with his research projects were above and beyond the call. To Christy and Stacy from New Hope Hospice - God bless you both.
