John Russell deGaribody went home to be with the Lord on July 15, 2024.
After high school, John enlisted in the Army before starting his career at University of Maine, spending ten years in the accounting department before starting his own real estate and brokerage firm, as well as investing in, and running, 30 apartments. This spurred his interest in gas and oil prices, he kept strict records of both. John loved fishing and hunting, taking annual trips for over twenty years with his buddies, Steve, Butler, and Pastor David. He was a devout Christian, one of the founding members of Faith Baptist Church in Old Town, Maine. John enjoyed many years serving the Lord.
John was predeceased by his first wife, Gwendolyn Marie deGaribody. He is survived by his children, Russell (Sharon) deGaribody, and Heidi (Dave Heath, deceased) Bach; grandchildren, Joshua, Moriah, Rebecca, and Nathan; great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Monty, and Simon; he is also survived by his second wife, one week shy of a 17-year marriage, Sheila deGaribody; step-daughters, Christian Coulter, Denise (Timothy) Mead, Shari (Paul) Hurwitz, Alicia (Steve) Douglass; ex-son-in-law, Rick Bach; step grandchildren; step great-grandchildren; and close friend, Pastor David Natale.
Graveside funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, July 21, 2024 at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town, with Pastor David Natale of Faith Baptist Church officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to a luncheon at Governor’s Restaurant, 963 Stillwater Ave. Old Town, ME., immediately following the service.
