John Winslow Eye
Eddington
John W. Eye, 57, died April 11, 2022 at a local hospital. He was born in Bangor, July 16, 1964, beloved son of Ralph Farnham Winslow Eye and Patricia (Micue) Eye.
The son of a diplomat, John attended schools in Geneva Switzerland, Jakarta Indonesia, McLean VA, Honolulu, HI and graduated from Bangor High School.
Gifted with intelligence and a lively curiosity, he was self taught and eager for knowledge. Whatever his pursuits and professions, he demanded the highest standards of himself.
John was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing and everything to do with nature especially in preserving it. He was deeply devoted to the rescue dogs he welcomed into his life. He will be remembered for his love of family both two legged and four legged.
Beneath a sometimes gruff exterior resided a very generous heart and spirit.
John was admired and respected by his coworkers and by the clients he served. He touched the lives of many.
His love of cooking resulted in his job as chef at Sanctuary, a high fence white tail ranch in Michigan for several years and where he developed an expertise in cooking wild game and where also he could pursue his own love of hunting and fishing and increasing his already expert marksmanship skills.
John came home to Maine when his father died and for nearly sixteen years was employed by Acadia Auto Auctions. He began his career there with condition reports and learning all he could about the business. He became a skilled negotiator and was most successful in bringing buyer and seller to an acceptable agreement after the auction. The highest reward for John was being able to take good care of the customer. All who knew him respected him and will miss him.
John was predeceased by his father, Ralph, his brother, Lance Farnham Eye and two sisters, Patience “Kitty” Winslow Eye and Constance Jessica Eye.
He is survived by his mother, Pat Eye of Eddington, six treasured nieces, Jennifer Sisk of FL, Susan Porter of So Carolina, Mary Greene of TN, Jennie Eye Burnett Fischer of CA., Hope Eye of Brewer, Grace Eye of Bangor, several much loved aunts and uncles living throughout the country. He will be remembered by a very special friend, Jennie Seekings of Hampden.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 5 pm to 7 pm Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a service will be held at 2 pm. Wednesday, April 20, 2022.
