John Munger Ferguson
Bangor-Dover-Foxcroft
John Ferguson, 68 passed away May 25, 2024 after a brief illness. It was a peaceful passing with family by his side. He was born on September 17, 1955 in Weston, Massachusetts. John graduated from RPI with a degree in Civil Engineering. Upon graduating, he entered the Navy as a commissioned officer where he served his country for seven years. Following his military service, John became a computer programmer and worked throughout Europe and the UK. He later returned to the states to live for many years on his beloved Sebec Lake where he ran his own taxi business.
John was an animal lover who, over the years, had a wide array of interesting animal companions. He was a man who enjoyed the challenge of learning and doing new things. He made a working one-man submarine, a hydroplane, learned how to do needlepoint and created several beautiful works. While still in high school, he rode his bike from Weston to Dover-Foxcroft (250 miles), having planned the route and gathered the necessary supplies to make the trip. He played guitar, was a music lover and a great fan of the Grateful Dead.
Predeceasing John are his parents, William B. Ferguson and E. Bickford (Bickie) Ferguson. He is survived by his brother, Bruce, and his sisters, Jan and Sue, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Our thanks to the staff at Dirigo Pines for the excellent care John received there. They were warm and caring, and gladly made John a part of the Arbor family.
Interment will be in the Ferguson family plot at Riverside Cemetery in Sanford, Maine at a later date.
Those wishing to remember John in a special way may make donations in his memory to the Alzheimers Association or to your local SPCA.
