GREENBUSH – John M. Hunt, 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 8th, 2022. He was born the son of Kenneth Sr and Eva (Royal) Hunt.
John graduated from Hermon High School, Class of 1967. Following graduation, he served in the U.S Navy during the Vietnam War. Soon after, he married Margaret King, where they settled in Bangor for many years, residing in Greenbush after they retired. They celebrated 48 years of marriage together.
John had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in the deep woods of Maine, camping, and spending quality time with his family and friends. His true passion was his love for God. It wasn’t uncommon to find him sitting somewhere quietly reading his Bible and eager to share what he had learned. He stood for God with every fiber of his being. He had a huge heart and always showed a great example of how to live a believer’s life. He was thoughtful, trustworthy, helpful, and always spoke the truth. He made an impact on a lot of people and he will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Margaret(King) Hunt; his son, Scott Hunt Sr; his daughter, Sheri Kelleher; grandsons; Terrell and Scott “Sonny”; a very special granddaughter that was his “baby girl”, Leah; his brother, Phillip Hunt; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his siblings; Lyle Hunt, Kenneth “Sonny” Hunt Jr, Judith Grinnell, Bonita Smallwood and Gloria Nash.
