Bangor – John F. Jordan, 77, loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather passed peacefully at his home on May 15, 2015 in Bangor, surrounded by his wife Mary Jordan and his loved ones.
The beloved son of Francis and Margaret Jordan, was born November 9, 1937. John graduated from John Bapst High School in 1955. Shortly after, John enlisted in the U.S. Army where he received Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, and the Meritorious Instructor’s award. He was Sgt. First Class when he served two tours in Vietnam with the 82nd Airborne Division. When he retired from the military, John went back to school at Husson and Beal College where he received his Business degrees.
John wasn’t only a lifelong learner, but he loved spending time with his wonderful wife Mary. John married the love of his life, Mary Patricia LeBlanc in the chapel at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on January 10, 1961. His family, and especially his grandchildren brought much joy to John. He was there to help guide and encourage them in whatever they were doing. He wasn’t involved in just their personal lives, but in all aspects of their lives. He was also well known around the sports field when he attended many events at Mansfield Stadium and Sawyer Arena in Bangor.
In addition to his parents, his granddaughter Jessica L. Lazore predeceased John. He is survived by his loving wife; his dogs Patty and Phoebe; his children Ronald Jordan and wife Deanie of Bangor, Rhonda Cook and her husband Chris of Kentucky, Sheryl Jordan and fiancée Charles of Bangor, John Jordan, Jr. and his wife Lynne of Old Town; grandchildren Justin Lyshon and his wife Angel, Sarah Dunton and her partner Vinnie, Elise Jordan and her fiancée Ben, Thomas Jordan and his wife Haley, Devin Lyshon and his partner Marissa, Alex Batson and his partner Ashley, Sabrina Jordan and her husband Dillon, and Kara Runkle; 9 great grandchildren and nephew Ray LeBlanc. The family appreciates the devoted love and friendship of Ron and Jean Lyshon, Chet Batson, and Lynne Cox.
A Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will be held at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St. Bangor, 6 PM Thursday, May 21, 2015, followed by military honors. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
