VEAZIE AND EDDINGTON—John “Randy” Perry II, 65, passed away suddenly on March 15, 2022, with his long-time companion, Jeannie Spencer, by his side. Randy was born June 16, 1956, in Bangor, Maine, the son of Jack and Lorena (Lancaster) Perry.
Randy grew up in Bangor and attended St. Mary’s Grammar School and John Bapst High School. Randy was very involved with helping his sister keep their 92-year-old father in his home and his sister will be forever grateful. He loved his family very much. Family weekend was his favorite in the summer and enjoyed all family gatherings throughout the year.
Randy retired as a Bangor Firefighter and also worked as head mechanic at the Bangor/Brewer Bowling Lanes. Any time a bowling center was in trouble with machines, they called Randy for assistance. He has been called the best candlepin bowling machine man in Maine. Randy could also fix anything electronic.
Randy was a top-notch bowler who participated in numerous leagues at the former Twin City Lanes and Bangor/Brewer Bowling lanes. Randy won numerous TV appearances and State tournaments. He was also President of the Senior League at the lanes at the time of his death. Randy was a member of the Maine Candlepin Pro Tour back in the 80’s and 90’s.
Randy enjoyed watching the Red Sox, going to live theatre and watching sci-fi movies with Jeannie. They also enjoyed going to yard and estate sales so he could “get more stuff”.
Randy’s son, Mike, calls him the smartest man he has ever known. He taught Mike how to throw a wicked curve ball. He was an encyclopedia of knowledge. Tom’s favorite memory is when his dad brought them to see the play, “Wizard of Oz”.
Randy enjoyed flying out to California to help his favorite cousin, Dana Plante, drive a moving truck across country back to Maine. They didn’t play the radio once because Randy had so many stories and enjoyed getting to see the country.
Randy’s family is very thankful for the caring manner of the Eddington Fire and EMT who worked hard to save his life.
Randy is survived by his beloved father, Jack Perry; his longtime companion, Dianne; sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Rod Gillespie; long-time companion, Jeannie Spencer; and sons, Mike and Tom Perry; grandchildren, Dylan Leighton, Kyle McCue, and Jack Perry. Randy also leaves behind his sweet kitties, Loki, and Raven. He had many pets over the years that were very important to him. Randy was predeceased by his mother, Lorena as well as his best friend and fellow bowler, Robert Osgood.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Ohio St., Bangor. A Celebration of Randy’s Life will be held immediately following the service at Bangor/Brewer Bowling Lanes, 534 Wilson St, Brewer.
