HERMON - John Edward Sharkus, Sr., 66, passed away October 4, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. John’s long battle with cancer and other ailments came to an end.
John was born June 17, 1955 in South Boston, Massachusetts. He started out as a young man doing what he loved most. He spent many years working on commercial lobster boats in the New England area. He loved the sea.
He met the love of his life, Mary Penwarden in 1984 and was happily married and landlocked from there. He taught his son, John Jr., the art of fishing while developing a successful paint contracting company in the Boston area, Sharkus and Son Painting.
John moved his family to Hermon, Maine in 2006 to live a country life. He was successful in his paint contracting company and enjoying the wilderness of Maine, right up to the end of his life.
John is survived by his wife, Mary and two children, son, John Jr. and daughter, Crystal-Lee. He is also survived by many family members, two generations and friends on both sides and will be sorely missed.
