Bangor - John Wilson Lefebvre, 82, of Bangor, Maine succumbed to long-term heart disease in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family on February 2, 2019.
John, one of two children of Dora O'Hearn Lefebvre and Raymond Craig Lefebvre, was born on March 22, 1936.
John graduated from Stevens High School in Rumford, Maine in 1955 and joined the United States Air Force as an air traffic controller, serving a tour of duty in England. John married the love of his life, Pauline, in 1956. He studied business at Husson College, and established a successful insurance agency in 1959, which still operates to date. John served as the State Chairman for Health Insurance for the Maine Association of Life Underwriters in 1992. In his service to the Bangor community, John was an active member in the Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club, fundraising for the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce, receiving the 2001 Volunteer of the Year Award and serving as a member of its Board of Directors from 1992-1997. He was also a member of the Elks Club.
A selfless man, John always put others ahead of himself. He was entirely devoted to his wife, Pauline and centered his life around his family, always being fully supportive and loving of their lives. John loved spending free time at his ocean side camp in Milbridge and spoke often of his love for his country.
John is survived by his loving wife, Pauline, of 63 years. Three daughters: Deborah Brady and her husband Sean of Huntington Bay, NY, Linda Hafford and her husband Paul of North Berwick, ME, and Donna Power and her husband Brad of Bangor, ME. Two sons: John Lefebvre and his Wife Laura of Groton, MA and Raymond Lefebvre and Christine Gomes of Salem, MA. Sister: Barbara Richard, whom he loved very much, of Rumford, ME. Fourteen Grandchildren: Sean Brady Jr. of Huntington Bay, NY, Patrick Brady of New York, NY, Meghan Brady of Boston, MA, Benjamin Hafford and wife Stephanie of Stoneham, MA, Andrea Hafford of North Berwick, ME, Jonathan Ingraham and wife Jessica of Bangor, ME, Christopher Ingraham and Martha Shaw of Westbrook, ME, Derek Lefebvre of Groton, MA, Ashley Lefebvre of Reading MA, Chantel Lefebvre of Reading, MA, Ryan Hafford and his wife Samantha of Millinocket, ME, Rachelle McGrew of Levant, ME, Ryan Power and Kelsey Devine of Bangor, ME, Katelyn O’Neill and husband Josh of Carmel, ME. Five Great-Children: Jackson Ingraham of Bangor, ME, Brooklyn Ingraham of Bangor, ME, Emily McGrew of Levant, ME, Thomas O’Neill of Carmel ME, and Kellan Power of Bangor ME. Two Brother In-laws: Jimmy Bernard of Englewood, FL and Billy Bernard of Farmington, ME.
John truly valued the camaraderie he shared with his close friends, Dick Woehr of Clifton, ME and Bob Arell of Bangor ME.
As a greatly accomplished person, John always put family first. Those who knew him would just sum it up to: Great Husband! Great Father! Great Brother! Great Grandfather! Great Great-Grandfather! And a Great Friend to many! We will all miss you!

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Brookings-Smith 133 Center St. Bangor, Maine. A Funeral Mass will be held 1 :00 p.m. Friday February 8, 2019 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 217 York St. Bangor, Maine, followed by a reception in the church hall. The Rite of committal service with full military honors will be held spring of 2019. Date will be announced.
