John went home to heaven on June 1, 2024. He was born in Dexter on January 15, 1947 and was born again on November 26, 1976! He has seen Jesus and is walking streets of gold today! He was the son of Carl and Marion (Pearl) Wilber. John graduated from Corinna Union Academy in 1965. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve for six years, worked at Dexter Shoe for a few years and retired in 2001 after 30 years working for UPS. John had a strong work ethic that he passed on to his sons, and was always willing to lend a hand to his friends and strangers. He volunteered at EMMC for 15 years, was handyman at the Shepherd Godparent Home for a few years, and volunteered answering phones at WCHF 88.5 radio. He married Linda (LaRochelle) in 1969. John was a member at Crosspoint Church in Bangor. He loved his Lord and his church families at Cornerstone Baptist in Exeter and Crosspoint. He enjoyed people and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his wife and best friend, Linda, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family, neighbors and friends.
John was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Linda, and their two sons, Jeff and his wife, Kendra of PA and their children Caleb and wife Jenn of Ohio, Lauren and husband Tim of Florida, Jayna, Mekenzie and Judah of PA. Bob and his wife, Carol, of Bangor, and their children Colby and his wife, Korissa, and their children Mia and Theo of Corinth, Dustin and his wife, Emily, and their children Mason and Nyla of VT, and Emily of Brewer. His brother, Brent, and his wife, Sherry, of Corinna, sister Carleen and her husband, Donald, of Pittsfield and sister Loretta of Pittsfield. John also had several nieces and nephews.
John was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of John’s life will be held June 9 at 3:00pm at Crosspoint Church, 1476 Broadway Bangor, with Pastor Colby Wilber, his grandson, officiating. A very big thank you to our Savior, all our family and friends, our friend and PCP, Amanda Young, and the amazing women from St. Joseph Hospice; Michelle, Katie, Brenda and Nicole who supported us in this journey. You all made a very difficult time much easier.
