FT. LAUDERDALE and BANGOR - Jonathan “Jonny” A. Tsoulas, 54, died unexpectedly at his home in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on August 15, 2013. He was born October 10, 1958 in Bangor, the son of George and Mary Tsoulas.
Jonny graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1976. For many years during high school and after graduation he worked in his father’s business, Better Homes, Inc. He was a skilled finish carpenter. In the 1980s he moved with his mother to Florida. For many years he served as her primary caretaker while she was in declining health. He was a self-taught musician and played the guitar with skill. He also played the drums and harmonica and maintained a great love for music throughout his life. Jonny was also an accomplished pool player, frequently taking his personal cue-stick to local haunts and running the table. An entrepreneur, Jon also sold goods at swap meets in Florida.
Jonny will be remembered for his loving and compassionate nature, and especially for his love of his family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Tim, who died in 1987. He is survived by four siblings, Diane L. Tsoulas of Hatfield, Massachusetts; Kenneth G. Tsoulas of Spofford, New Hampshire; Katherine L. Tsoulas, of Bangor; and Karen D. Tsoulas of Arcadia, California. He also leaves a niece, Kate Abernethy, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and two nephews, Shane Wilson and Nick Tsoulas, both of Bangor.
A memorial service will be held 11am Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Brookings Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, followed by interment at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
