Joseph “Joe” A. Aubin, 96, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2023, at the Maine Veterans Home surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 9, 1927, in Milan, NH, the son of Ovide and Christie (Lorry) Aubin.
Joe served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. When he returned, he worked until his first retirement as a truck driver for Sanborn’s Express. His passion was bowling. Joe started his own bowling league and traveled the State of Maine running tournaments. After his first retirement he went on to work for Family Fun Bowling Lanes well into his 90’s when Covid retired him. Joe also enjoyed running and ran many road races all over the region into his 80’s. When he became more home bound he spent his time watching CNN, bowling and wrestling, along with playing with his electronic gadgets. He loved his family and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his children; Brenda Aubin, Sandra Nason and husband Randy, Rhonda Aubin-Smith and husband Jerry, Ron Aubin and wife Emily, and their two children, Sam and Flora; several step grandchildren; siblings, Margaret Frizzell, Louise Desilets, Alice Charles, David Aubin, Leo Aubin; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife of 42 years, Florence “Flossie” (Osgood) Aubin; a long time companion, Barbara Hewes; siblings, Ellen Glover, Florence Ball, Norman Aubin, Ernest Aubin, John Aubin, and Narcisse Aubin.
A graveside service will be held in the spring/summer of 2024 at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Country Villa, c/o Sandra Nason, 470 South Road, Dixmont, ME 04932. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com
