Joseph Cammack

July 24, 1958 — June 9, 2023

Joseph A Cammack of Bangor, Maine, passed away on June 9th, 2023. after a brief illness. Joe was born on July 24th, 1958 in Bangor to Laurie and Ralph "Sonny" Cammack. He grew up in Bangor with his brothers Ralph and Jeff, and his sister Julie. Joseph is survived by his beloved children Joseph A Cammack Jr. and Annie Lee Cammack.

Joe was a great athlete and had a passion for all sports, particularly for football. He held many impressive Bangor High track records that were not broken for decades after he graduated! He was known to be a loyal fan of the Red Sox and the Celtics. Joseph spent his career caring for people at Bangor Mental Health Center until he reached retirement. After retirement, he went on to work at the Bangor International Airport in security.

Joe was a very strong man who had a big heart . He loved his family dearly. He loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends, sharing a laugh, and having a good time. He was a prolific and facinating story teller, both small and tall. When he started talking it was magnetic.

He adored both music and flim. He had an impressive collection of MTV music videos on VHS that he recorded religiously each day. We always knew that we were in for a treat when he would bring the latest "hit" home.

Our dad was humble and had an infectious laugh and one of the greatest senses of humor of all time. He was a man's man and was always there to lend a helping hand.

Dad's voice was like a lion and he had a deep soul that shaped his life. Despite many life challenges, he managed to keep a positive outlook and never let anything bring him down. His selflessness and love for others were admirable, and he touched the lives of many in the community.

Joe will be tremendously missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know him.

For now, if you knew Joe, we ask you to raise a glass high and give a cheerful toast to a man that did life his way. We will miss his laugh (and his (in)famous chili recipe) terribly, but we are comforted in knowing he is now free from pain and he can dance and sing with angels.

A private family and friends memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate our dad's life and carry out his last wishes.
