Bangor - Joseph Charles Mizda, 87, died unexpectedly, April 21, 2019 at EMMC. He was born October 8, 1931, in Northampton, PA, the son of Julius and Mary (Lakey) Mizda.
Joseph served in the United States Air Force during Korea and Vietnam, retiring after 25 years as a Master Sergeant. Following his service, he worked for the Federal Aviation Administration, retiring after 10 years. Joseph was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., Maine Troop Greeters, and Honor Flight. Joseph was also a member of the Eagles Club and enjoyed playing pool, and especially bowling.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 25 years, and the love of his life, Beverly J. Mizda; and one sister, Terri Parker.
Joseph is survived by his daughters, Mary C. Orsini and her husband, John, of Edinboro, PA and Sandra D. Mizda of Glenburn; step-son, Jeffery Featheringill of Brewer; three grandchildren, Jason Gannon, Michelle Gannon, of Erie, PA, and Raymond Whitehead of Ft. Wayne, IN; many step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his mother-in-law, Dolores Tanjuatco of Bangor.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 5 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 26, 2019 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 27, 2019 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 768 Ohio Street, Bangor. The Rite of Committal will be held at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. Relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments in the Church Parish Hall immediately following the Funeral Mass.
