Joseph Cheff

February 6, 1993 — March 12, 2019

BANGOR - Joseph (Joe) Cheff, died unexpectedly on March 11, 2019. Joe will always be remembered as a kind, gentle, peaceful, funny, courageous, loyal, and brilliant human. Peace to you our beloved son, brother, grandson, partner, friend, nephew, cousin, coworker and great human being. The universe is a lesser place without Joe Cheff.

Joe was born in Bangor, Maine on February 6th, 1993. He graduated from John Bapst Memorial High School in 2011 and was welcomed into the engineering brotherhood with degree from the University of Maine in 2016. During college he had a great time working on the IT team with PCHC. After college, he enjoyed his work and friends at SGC Engineering.

Joe could build, fix, tinker with, or program anything imaginable. By age 14 he was already constructing his own computers. He often could be found working with his Grandpa Tony and brother Jon to wire a sound system, replace a transmission, or rebuild an old engine. His talents ranged from drumming, jailbreaking his sister Ellie’s phone, building his sister Katie’s first car, and teaching his girlfriend Cassie’s son how to fix a washing machine, to conducting the arc flash and breaker coordination studies which insured the safety of hospitals, solar farms and windmills. He was always the go-to guy whenever anyone needed help.

His genius mind was complemented by a wicked sense of humor. If you were on a computer, you never knew if you’d get Rickrolled or have your mouse hacked. He came up with the quirkiest jokes and sayings. He always found the best movies during family movie nights. Joe loved nature and the freedom of skating, skiing and hiking, especially with his family, Cassie, and his furry friend Roy. Joe had a heart of gold that shined brightly in so many ways. We will all miss him more than he will ever know.

Joseph was predeceased by his Nana Connie Oliva. He is survived by sisters Katie and Ellie, brother Jonathan, parents Susan Cheff and Steven Cheff. His grandparents Bill and Grace Cheff, Tony and Linda Oliva. Joe’s girlfriend Cassie and her son Benny and Steven’s girlfriend Betty Nelson. His aunts and uncles including Stu and Haeyoung Cheff, Cindy and John Barker, Mike Oliva, Jeff Oliva, Joey and Sandra Oliva. Cousins Matt, Stacey, Chelsea, Ipo, Noah, Jonah, Andrew and Morgan, and his entire extended family
