Joseph P. Jack, 67, tragically passed away in a house fire on Friday, November 3, 2023. He was born and raised in Medford MA.
He married Debora Barrett in 2014 in Old Town surrounded by friends and loved ones wearing his best flannel shirt. Joe was a very charismatic man who spent much of his professional career writing government contracts and editing grants, but his true passion was the outdoors. Joe was a master at tying fishing flies. Guides from all around the State of Maine would commission him. He was also a fishing guide and would use his charismatic charm to host fishing trips and prepare a cooked lunch over an open fire that no one would ever forget. This drive to share his passions lead Joe to spear-head huge youth events in the Harrison, ME area such as the Annual Youth Ice Fishing Derby and the integration of the “Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs” Project. Joe spent his whole life forming connections with others and pushing others to pursue their own passions.
Joe has now joined his father Joe Jack Sr. and daughter Amanda. He is survived by his wife Debora; children, Peter and Kayla; two sisters, Betty-Ann and Sue; grandchildren; nieces, nephew and so many others whose lives he touched.
This coming Saturday, November 25, friends and family are gathering at Wild Fox Cabins, 481 Fox Run, Lakeville, ME, from 12 PM – 3 PM, to celebrate the life of Joe Jack. There is presently a gofundme.com page for Debora set up by the good people of Wild Fox to cover the damages of the fire. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com
