Joseph Jeffery Murphy, 23, of Orrington, passed away suddenly on June 11, 2016. A devoted son, brother, uncle and grandson, Joe graduated from Brewer High School in 2012 and went on to become a motor transport operator in the Army National Guard from 2012 to 2015 as a Specialist E4. After basic training he attended Beal College where his favorite slogan was “D's Gets Degrees!” He graduated with his associates degree in welding technology in 2014, and went on to work at Trans Tech as a welder. Joe was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, ATV's, snowmobiles, had a passion for videography, and most of all spending time with friends and family. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, award winning smile, and willingness to help others. Joe was an inspiration to all those around him and will never be forgotten.

Joe was born in Bangor, Maine on February 11, 1993 to Kathy Brown and Brian Murphy. Joe is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Joseph and Christina Murphy of Brewer and his cousin Eric Foss of Waterville. He is survived by his mother Katharine “Kathy” Brown, his brother James Graham II, sister-in-law Sarah and his beloved nephew and niece James and Quinn; his maternal grandparents and best friends Margaret and Melvin Brown, aunts, uncles and cousins, Debbie Daigle and her children Michael, Seth, and Hannah, Peter and Peggy Brown and their children Samantha, Shelby, Sidney, and Parker, Jeff and Naomi Brown and their children Ryan, Ciera, and Ben. His father Brian Murphy and fiancé Brenda Sampson and his brother Noah; aunts and uncles, Connie and Glen Foss, Bob and Brenda Murphy, Mike and Rhonda Murphy, Anne and Jeff Bean, Mary Jo and Rick Bernardo and was greatly loved by many cousins. Joe was greatly influenced and loved by his step-father Kendall Seavey and will never be forgotten by friends to innumerable to mention.

Friends are welcome to call from 5-8 PM, Thursday, June 16, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, where funeral services will be held 10 AM, Friday, June 17, with Rev. Carl Schreiber. Pastor of the East Orrington Congregational Church, officiating. Interment will be following the service at Oak Hill Cemetery, Orrington.
