Josephine Wood

Josephine A. Wood of Lamoine passed away December 16, 2024, one day shy of her 94th birthday. She was born December 17, 1930 in Bangor, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Daley) Foster. At age 8, Josephine was taken in by foster parents, George and Mina Merrill.

Josephine graduated Bangor High School class of 1950 before attending nursing school at Maine General in Portland. In 1952, she married Raymond Wood. Together they built a life in Brewer, raising three boys. Josephine enjoyed time spent with family, making ceramics, rug hooking, and gardening, and caring for her beloved cats. She arranged the gathering for the Class of 1950 yearly, hosting it at her home in Lamoine.

Josephine was predeceased by her parents and foster parents. She is survived by husband, Raymond Wood; sons, David Wood and wife, Deb, of Cheyenne WY., Steven Wood and wife, Victoria, of Bangor, ME., and Alan Wood of Lamoine, ME.; six grandchildren; as well as many great-grandchildren.
