GLENBURN – Joyce Marie (Sadler) Dahlgren, 70, passed away February 5, 2019 at home with her loving husband by her side. She was born September 29, 1948, in Calais, the daughter of Loring and Kathleen (Flood) Sadler.
Joyce graduated from Woodland High School in 1966. She worked in the cafeteria at Glenburn Elementary School and the 14th Street School in Bangor where she was loved and appreciated by both children and staff.
Joyce enjoyed spinning, weaving, knitting hats and scarfs for the homeless, and gardening. She loved going to their camp on Deering Lake and being out in nature. She had a great love for all animals large and small and they all gravitated toward her especially all the stray cats in the neighborhood. They knew they would be fed and eventually be invited inside to stay.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Dana of Glenburn; her daughter, Carrie Lynn Chilson and her husband, Scott; 3 grandsons, Luke, Zander and Connor, all of Claremont, FL; also surviving are her brother, Franklin Sadler and his wife, Pauline of Baileyville; sister, Beverly Richardson and her husband, Bill of Orrington; sister-in-law, Donetta Leighton and her husband, Cary of Glenburn; several special nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Michelle and Sasha from Absolute Physical Therapy and Northern Light Hospice, especially Nurse Loni and Home Health Aid Cheryl for the love and care they gave Joyce. We couldn’t have asked for nicer people to help us through each day. Also a special thank you to Suzanne “Zan” Davis, our loving neighbor.
A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held 1pm Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor, immediately following the service Saturday.
