Bangor and Amherst - Juanita "Nita" M. (Farnsworth) Wainwright passed away peacefully the morning of January 1, 2025, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Nita was born on February 13, 1946, at the Good Samaritan Home in Bangor, to Phyllis Farnsworth of Amherst, Maine. She was adopted by her grandmother, Doris Farnsworth of Amherst, and raised by her and Percy Rhodell Smith.

She attended grade school in Amherst with her cousins, Raymond, Lois and Gerald Humphrey. She moved to Veazie to attend high school with the Perry and Jellison families. She attended UMO on a scholarship for math. She met and married a Veazie classmate, Edward J. Wainwright. Together they shared many years of marriage and they raised their daughter, Jamie Lynn. Nita worked at Bangor Savings Bank for around 40- plus years, retiring as assistant vice president of customer service. She made many friends during her time there, many of whom were lifelong. She was blessed with two grandchildren, Amber and Everett Williamson. She was fortunate to be able to help take care of them during the day. Nita was very proud of them, they were a big part of her life.

Nita moved around a bit with her sister, Sue Guerin (Perry). Together they lived in Nashville, Tennessee, and Hilton Head, South Carolina. While in Nashville they would often bump into country music stars. She even had her picture taken with Kix Brooks of Brooks & Dunn. They eventually returned to Maine where Nita lived on the coast. She loved the ocean and its beauty. She lived for a time with a friend from her childhood in Amherst, Peggy Leighton. Through mutual friends she met Linwood Colpritt and spent some of her last few years living with him on the coast in St. George.

Nita was predeceased by her mother, Phyllis Farnsworth; grandmother, Doris Farnsworth and Percy Rhodell Smith; second mother, Elinor "Ellie" Perry and Don Perry; uncle, Raymond Farnsworth; uncle, Carl Humphrey; half sister, Pauline Cash; sister, Judy Gump; brother, Donnie Perry; and special cousin, Raymond Humphrey.
