Judith M. Pickering, 80, passed away October 21, 2015. She was born in Haverhill, Mass October 6, 1935.
Judy devoted her life to the people that she loved most - her husband John and their 3 sons, Mike, Jack and Bob. She was a care-giver all of her life and took great pleasure in her work as an RN, then raising her family in Winterport, where she opened her heart and home to dozens of children that she provided care for. She was a wonderful mother to her sons and their many friends.
After her husband John’s death in 2002, Judy moved to Hampden and became part of the Hampden Congregational Church family. However there was a void in her heart left by John’s passing. John and Judy had a unique partnership and their personalities could not have been more different, but they complimented each other very well for 45 years. We are happy to know that John and Judy are in Heaven doing to 2-step again!!
Judy always had a voice whether singing in the choir or getting her sons attention at the Little League Field (which was 1/2 mile away!)
Nana enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren making cookies and reading books. She was proud of their creativity and encouraged them to follow their dreams.
Later in life her care-giving nature continued while she was a resident at Harbor Hill Center in Belfast. As a retired nurse she had a special bond with the nurses and aides that cared for her.
Judy was predeceased by her parents and husband John. She is survived by her 3 sons Michael, John Jr. “Jack” and Robert, daughters-in-law Deborah and Kelly, grandchildren Matthew, Benjamin, Alex, Andrea and Delanie, sister and brother-in-law Donna and Irving Reval, nephews Craig and Scott Reval and their families.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Harbor Hill Center for their compassion and dedication to Judy. They provided her with a loving home for the last years of her life.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5 – 8pm Monday, October 26, 2015 at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden. A graveside service will be held 11am Tuesday October 27, 2015 at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Lebanon Road Winterport. Those who wish to remember Judy in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Hampden Food Cupboard, PO Box 9, Hampden, ME 04444.
