ATKINSON - Judith Ann “Judy” (Pratt) Thompson, 79, passed away November 18, 2019. She was born February 26, 1940 in Bangor, the daughter of Horace A. and Geneva M. (Hodgkins) Pratt.
While attending school, Judy played the piano and organ for the Orono Methodist Church. After graduating from the University of Maine at Orono, she worked for the Department of Health and Welfare in Bangor and then for the Hancock County Cooperative Extension Service in childhood development where she met Walter. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed knitting, gardening, genealogy, playing the piano, and she played the organ at the Old Town Methodist Church for many years.
In addition to her parents, Judy was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Walter A. Thompson Sr. and a brother, David A. Pratt. She is survived by a sister, Edith Pratt of Georgetown, TX; children, Elisabeth White and husband, Tom of Jay, Walter “Tom” Thompson, Jr and wife, Stephany of Exeter, Rebecca Burns and partner, Joseph Marin of Winslow, Robert Thompson and wife, Kristen of Charleston; and her grandchildren, T Moses White, Samuel White, Riley Thompson, Richard Thompson, Curtis Burns, Emma Thompson, and Sylvia Thompson.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, November 30, 2019, at the Old Town Methodist Church, 726 Stillwater Ave, Old Town, with the Rev. Dr. Tracy Reeves, officiating. Private interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Orono.
