BANGOR — Judith (Judy) (Page Grover) Turner passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024. She was 88 years old.
Judy was born January 30, 1935, in Trafford, PA, to Earle C. Page and M. Martha Page (Gore) and was raised in Bangor, attending Bangor High School. Later moving to Eddington when she married Arnold Grover, where they raised their four daughters. Judy worked at the Eddington Consolidated School system, Millers Discount, and Ames department stores before retiring from Cap Morrill’s Seafood, where she had worked as a bookkeeper for decades. Her love of being silly and talking to everyone made these early years in retail happy memories up until her last days. Later in her life, she found her “Wingman in Fun & Joy”. and was married to Marlow Turner of Newport. They made home in Newport before finally settling down in Judy’s hometown of Bangor. They were married for 16 years.
Judy was an avid knitter and crocheter, making hundreds of afghans, mittens, hats and slippers in her lifetime. In her earlier days, she made all her girls’ clothing as well as their doll’s clothing and too many quilts to count. Judy loved her movies! She’d sit hours on end working her yarn, watching Elvis, Tarzan, Shirley Temple, and Westerns movies daily. In her retirement years, her and Marlow loved playing Bingo and were in cribbage tournaments throughout the greater Bangor Area. Their multiple times a week visits to Longhorn and Denny’s restaurants provided many hours of laughter and good friends, even winning them a Customer of Year award for Maine.
She was predeceased by her parents, Earle C. Page, and M. Martha Page (Gore); her husband, Marlow Turner; (and her favorite fur baby Josh).
She is survived by her daughters, Lori Willette and her husband, Keary, of Gorham, Tracey M. Grover of Brewer, Annette L. Grover of Holden, and Linda J. Stevens of Oregon; her stepdaughter, Sue LaViolette (Turner) and her husband, Don, of Orrington; her sister, Shirley Craig and her husband, Michael; her brother, Richard Page; her grandchildren, Cameron Willette and his wife, Treva DeMaynadier, and Celena Powell (Knapp) and her husband and great grandsons.
