EDDINGTON- Judy Ann (MacLeod) Wood, 79, died October 18, 2024, after a long illness. She was born February 10, 1945, in Bangor, Maine, the oldest daughter of Paul and Louise (Downs) MacLeod.
Judy graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1963. She was an excellent student, and a member of National Honor Society. She married her high school sweetheart, Ray Stanley Wood, in 1964.
Judy worked for WABI TV until she started her true life’s work, raising her children. When her children were in school, Judy rejoined the workforce and began working at Bangor High School and eventually became a Real Estate broker. Judy loved helping people find their perfect home and enjoyed earning her own spending money for her trips to T.J.Maxx.
In their retirement, Judy and Ray enjoyed traveling and eventually settled on the west coast of Florida, where they spent six months out of the year as ‘snow birds’. Judy enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family, children and grandchildren. She and Ray hosted all holiday dinners, and she will always be known for her amazing cooking: her spaghetti sauce, baked beans and Thanksgiving gravy were loved by all. Shopping was a favorite activity of Judy’s as well, nothing would excite her more than finding an item for sale on the clearance rack, even if she didn’t absolutely love it, she’d often buy it. Judy loved fashion, had a very deep closet of clothes and would never leave the house without “tictivating” her outfit just so, fixing her hair, and putting on her makeup. She loved to sing, was part of Sweet Adeline’s, and had an amazing gift in her voice, which she loved to use in church. Her favorite hymns were In the Garden, It is Well, The Old Rugged Cross, and How Great Thou Art. She enjoyed her flower garden and making her house look just the way she liked it. She enjoyed decorating her home for each season, and had a special love for all things Christmas. Judy was able to spend her last years with some very special caregivers, to whom the family extends their gratitude.
Surviving, are her four children, Stephanie Seccareccia and her husband, Bob, of Eddington, Ray S. Wood Jr. and his wife, Marcia, of Eddington, Darrick Wood and his fiancée, Kristen Hirsch, of Bangor and Jessica McCluskey and her husband David, of Eddington. In addition to her children, Judy was so proud of her grandchildren, Robert, Stephen, Joey and Michael Seccareccia, Trey and Sarah Wood, Quinn and Daryn Wood, and Jacob and Isaac McCluskey. She was also a great-grandmother to Jaxson, Murphy, JJ and Cooper, and is also survived by her brother, Paul MacLeod, of Venice, Florida.
Judy was predeceased by her brother David, parents, grandparents and husband Ray. All who knew them can imagine Ray greeting Judy with his hands on his hips on October 18th, saying “I’ve been waiting for you, what took you so long?”
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St. Bangor Interment will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery, Eddington, immediately following the service. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
