FROG SHEARER
Frog Shearer, 18, lost a long, hard, courageous battle with mental illness Thursday, May 23rd 2024 at their home in Newburgh. They were born January 22, 2006, the child of Amy Shearer and Marlan Shearer.
Frog was a very talented, artistic, nature loving, down to earth child. They had a love for the outdoors including camping (especially on the Golden Road), attending Maine Youth Fish & Game Camp with their long time friend Elyse where they were Camper of the Year, downhill skiing, collecting sea glass and sand dollars, and our annual family trips to Funtown Splashtown. They were always searching for animal skulls to add to their collection. They were a true animal lover and helped care for their many pets. And always rescued animals in need. Frog recently enjoyed a trip to Italy with their Mom, where they made priceless memories and took lots of pictures.
In 2022 they met Finn, who quickly became each others rock. They shared a special bond that helped get them thru many difficult times.
Frog is survived by their loving parents Amy Shearer and Marlan Shearer; sisters, Olivia and Anna Shearer; Grandparents Doreen King, Michael King, Paula and Richard Shearer. Uncle Randy King and his wife, Jeni, their children Gabrielle and Garrett,; uncle, Maurice Shearer and his wife, Amanda; cousins, Hope and Nolan Shearer; aunt, Melissa Ryan, her husband, Jim and their children Brendan, Sam and Adam; aunt, Melanie Carbone, her husband, Mike and their children Vinnie, Lucci and Gemma; And most importantly Finn Hodgdon, the love of their life; as well as many other family members and loved ones.
Frog was on a mission to build fun/unique bird houses to place around the field and on their new barn being built. Any potted perennial flowers, plants or bird houses sent for Frog will be added to their memorial garden which will surround the graves of their beloved farm family they lost in the fire last December.
Those who wish to remember Frog in a special way may make gifts in their memory to Peace Ridge Sanctuary and mail them to Amy Shearer, 2176 Kennebec Rd, Newburgh ME 04444. Amy and Frog’s sisters will hand deliver the donations.
Family and friends are invited to their Celebration of Life 5-7 pm, Monday June 3rd, at the Family Reception Center, Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St, Bangor. The family invites anyone to come and share memories, conversations and refreshments.
