Julie A Mathews passed into the arms of her angel family on May 17th 2023 at the age of 65. She was as always a fighter and did things her way.
She was the wife of Jimmy D. Mathews, of whom spent almost 50 years together, started as best friends when they were teenagers.
Born to Sheila A. (Bunker) Nash and John A. Campbell in February 1958. She was the sister to Harold Campbell, Doug Campbell, Terri (Campbell) Stewart, Wendy (Campbell) Dow, Janice Campbell, and Zebulin Campbell. Julie graduated from Brewer High School in 1976 and was a faithful Air Force wife. Jim and Julie made their home in California and Texas before settling back in the area in 1993. She worked in retail for many years then found her passion while working at Bangor Montessori School until her passing.
Besides being a kidney transplant patient, and against advice of doctors, she went on to have 3 children. Jason Mathews, then twins Jessica (Mathews) Watts and Jeremy Mathews. Besides her children, her pride and joy were her granddaughters, Kaitlyn Tompkins, Emily Mathews, Abbie Stanley, Taylor Watts and Allison Watts. She is also survived by too many nieces and nephews to name. All of whom she loved deeply.
Julie found joy in all things nature. Her gardens were a stress reliever. Even more so was spending time with her horse Komett. She passed knowing that he would be taken care of and loved by Taylor and Allison.
Julie was predeceased by her father John, sister Janice, father-in-law Laforest E. Mathews III and sisters-in-Law Sally Mathews and Mary Mathews, grandparents Martha and Warren Campbell, and Stella and Herbert Bunker.
No more sorrow, No more tears, friends. We take solace in knowing her mind was with us until the end.
