Bangor - Kainan T. Thornton, 21, started his way upstairs to Heaven, after a courageous battle with cancer, September 29, 2022, at a Boston, Massachusetts hospital. He was born April 24, 2001, in Bangor, the son of Nicole A. (Ryan) Thompson and Ian T. Thornton.
Kainan graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 2019. Following graduation, he began working at the Bangor YMCA. Kainan was a very thoughtful and giving young man; bettering children's lives was his proudest accomplishment. He loved everyone he came across and was the sweetest and funniest young man; so pure and a blessing to his mother.
Surviving Kainan, are his mother, Nicole; sister, Leigha Thompson; stepfather, David Thompson; stepsister, Breanna Thompson; brother, Cameron Thornton; God-Mother, Sarah Wellman; uncle, Shawn Ryan; and several friends and nurses who had the pleasure of meeting him. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Donna and Wayne Ryan; Mr. and Mrs. William Thornton.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2022, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 S Main St., Brewer.
