Winterport – Karen J. Frazee, 54, mother of Teague and Kenny Brewer-Frazee passed away Tuesday January 27, 2015 at her home with her sons holding her hands. Karen was born in Point Pleasant, New Jersey on August 25, 1960 to Robert L. and Norma J. (Nickerson) Frazee.
She attended schools in Point Pleasant, graduating in 1978 from Point Pleasant Borough High School. Karen earned her Associate in Arts Degree from Ocean County College in 1980. During her youth in NJ she played soccer and remembered proudly the year her mother coached her team.
Karen worked for the Bucksport paper mill for 29 years and was the first female electrician, a job that she loved, having to give it up when she became ill. During her time at the mill she was a member of the PEO and Hazmat team. Karen was a lifelong learner who would challenge herself to remember and then recite poems. Most recently she recited, "IF" by Kipling for her family at the annual Nickerson reunion. But her greatest love was the love she had for her children. She enjoyed teaching them lifelong skills and traveling with them in their RV. Their annual camping trips to Bayley's Campground in Old Orchard Beach and a trip to Dollywood provided many memories and family stories. She loved watching Kenny compete in soccer, basketball, and baseball and was his number one fan. Kenny will miss her not being in the bleachers cheering him on. Karen was always amazed at Teague's gift for electronics, and they shared many inside jokes. Teague will miss their shared jokes and her being his best advocate.
Karen is survived by her parents of Swanville who will miss her love and support; her brother Bruce Frazee and wife Melinda of Searsport; her sister Sherry Frazee and partner Lyn Reger of Stockton Springs and their five children, Nik, Jason, Lukas, Libby and Abby, who accompanied Karen and the boys on many adventures; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Karen is also survived by her friend and co-parent, Belinda Brewer of Winterport.
The family is deeply grateful for the support of Hospice of Eastern Maine, Lyn Reger, Aaron and Eva Blethen, Paula Lambert, Alisha Durrell, and the Hampden Academy freshman basketball team of which Kenny is a member, for delivering meals to the family.
Karen, we love and miss you so much already and appreciate all you have done for us.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call Friday,January 30, 6-8 and Saturday, January 31, 1-3 at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden.
