Karen Manzo

August 15, 1943 — February 1, 2024

Northport - On the morning of February 1, 2024, Karen Manzo passed away from natural causes while surrounded by family. Karen was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, on August 15, 1943, and was a graduate of Hampden Academy in Hampden, Maine.
She married the love of her life, Andy Manzo, at age 19 and built a family with him in Bangor, Maine. Karen first met Andy when she was only 5 years old and the two enjoyed over 60 years of marriage. Karen was the proud Mother of two daughters, Marie Manzo and Teresa "Terry" Jamo. After her first career as a homemaker, she started her second career as a nurse. Her secondary education followed her daughter's graduation from Bangor High School. She and her youngest daughter, Terry, even attended Husson University at the same time. Karen then had a long career as a nurse at Eastern Maine Medical Center. Karen was a lifelong learner and was known for her strength, kindness, and compassion. She was also an accomplished artist and poet.
Karen was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Manzo; brother, Richard Levine; brother-in-law, Richard Manzo; and sister-in-law, June Levine. She is survived by her brothers, Don Levine and his wife, Patty, and Robert Levine; daughters, Marie Manzo and Teresa Jamo; grandchildren, Kristine Madore, Karen Ayer, Tyler Jamo, and Lexie Hoxie; as well as four great-grandchildren. She was a cherished wife, mother, and friend to all that knew her.
A graveside service will be planned for late June at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Bangor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sussman House, 40 Anchor Drive, Rockport, ME 04856. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
