BREWER - Katherine E. (Snowman) Luce died June 6, 2022, at a Bangor Hospital. She was born July 7, 1933, in Brewer, the daughter of Gilbert R. Snowman and Florence Gertrude (Leach) Snowman.
Katherine attended the Brewer School System, she was a member of the Twirling Team and an Ice-Skating Group, graduating in the class of 1951. She loved roller skating and met her future husband, Frederick C. Luce, while skating in Carmel at The Auto Rest Park. Katherine and Frederick were married December 25, 1952. They lived a short time in Texas while Fred was in the Air Force before moving back to Carmel, and then settling in their home in Brewer. They raised four children, Deborah A. Luce, Michael J. Luce, Susan M. Luce, and Frederick P. Luce.
Surviving her are sister, Myrna Knight of New Hampshire, with whom she had a very close relationship; her daughter, Susan Luce of Brewer; her sons, Michael Luce of Orrington, his two sons Joshua B. Luce of New York, Christopher Luce, his wife, Kaity, and their children, Ryver, and Magnolia of Orrington; and Frederick Luce, his wife, Amy, and their children, Matthew, and Nicholas of Brewer. She was "Auntie Kaye" to many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick; and her daughter, Deborah.
She will be missed dearly by a very special group of friends who met daily for coffee, laughter and conversation at the McDonald's in Brewer. Her family and friends will miss her humor, spunk, and love of life.
