Kathleen was a graduate of Andover High School, Andover Maine, Post College in Waterbury Connecticut, and attended the University of New Hampshire. She was always Cassie until she had been in the Bangor area a few years and met her husband-to-be Cass. “In short time,” she would say, “I was labeled Kay or Katie“, “I am a lady of many names, take your pick!” Kathleen retired from Eastern Maine Medical Center after 32 years as a laboratory technician, many of those as a supervisor in the hematology lab. She was affectionately addressed as “Mother” at the lab and several other areas of the hospital. Kathleen so loved her family, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and felt very fortunate to have been so happy with her work at the hospital. She always liked crafts and after retiring kept herself occupied with oil, water and acrylic painting, knitting, crocheting, reading, preparing meals, and baking. Kathleen loved to have people come over or stop by and share whatever she had prepared. She rarely missed an event her grandchildren or great children participated in, Cheering them on! Kathleen was a very devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother! She would always say “I hope you never need me but I hope you want me!” She is survived by a sister, Sally Bodwell of Bethel, Maine; daughter, Gretchen Dyer-Gagnon of Bangor, Maine, daughter, Valerie Dawn and husband, Paul of Sanford, Maine; daughter-in-law, Susan Dyer of Glenburn, Maine; 8 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many close friends. Honoring their Dad’s wishes, Mom + Dad will be placed together in one urn. Dad’s ashes have had a home on the mantle up until this time with a candle always flickering. Honoring her wishes there will be a graveside service for family at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Andover, Maine in the village that she had a strong desire to return to! The family would like to specially thank the kind and compassionate staff of Beacon Hospice of Bangor!
