Kathryn Day

August 17, 1938 — February 28, 2024

Bangor – Day, Kathryn “Kay” peacefully went on to her heavenly reward on the evening of February 28, 2024, after a lengthy illness. She was born on August 17, 1938, in Bangor, the daughter of the late Frederick P. and Esther K. (Morrison) Day of Milo, Maine. Kay was educated in Milo Schools and graduated from Milo High School, now known as Penquis Valley High School. Over the years, Kay worked in various capacities and businesses and retired from Evans-Hampden Shoe as a stitcher. She had many interests including baking, reading, and her beloved pets. Kay was a longtime member of the Columbia Street Baptist Church and for many years, Kay had been a faithful and hard-working volunteer in the church office, the church library and her help will be missed. She is predeceased by her beloved friend Ellen Simpson, her parents, her sister Edna Day, uncles and aunts, a Cousin John Vose, and numerous pets. Kay is survived by her cat Buster, her brother Dale and his friend Dennis Ouellette of Saco, Cousins Ralph and Elizabeth Vose and their son, Marc and his wife Cheryl, all of New Hampshire, Susan Vose of Texas, and a high school friend Eileen Delahunt of Brewer, along with many dear and treasured friends from the Columbia Street Baptist Church in Bangor. A funeral service will be held at the Columbia Street Baptist Church, Bangor, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, March 18, 2024, followed by a time of fellowship. Donations may be made in Kay’s memory to the Columbia Street Baptist Church, 63 Columbia Street, Bangor, ME 04401. At the family’s convenience, cremains will be interred at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hermon. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
