KENNETH EUGENE DUMONT - BREWER

Kenneth E. Dumont, 85, passed away peacefully at his home on June 12, 2023 while on hospice care. Kenneth was born on November 10, 1937 in Island Falls, Maine to Goldie Dunfee and Wilbur Dumont.

Ken graduated from East Corinth Academy, after which he worked as a staff announcer/disc jockey in his early career and then moved to television and radio sales. He wrote, produced, and was featured in a number of local advertisements in the Bangor area. He was working part-time in sales until the age of 80. He joined the U.S. Army Nation Guard in 1961. He met Barbara at WHAY in New Britain, Connecticut and then decided to move to Maine in 1968. They enjoyed 58 years together. Ken was an avid fisherman and was a proud “lifetime member” of The Fin and Feather Club in Millinocket, Maine. He enjoyed fishing in a number of his secret fishing holes, often getting his “limit” and sharing with family and friends. He was known for frying up white perch that had a flavor that would rival any cook. He had countless fishing trips with “The Guys” from the Allagash to other points throughout Maine, and New Hampshire. His other passion was singing. Ken would entertain at family gatherings by singing a number of Bing Crosby, Perry Como and Nat King Cole songs any chance he could get. A microphone was never far from Ken. He loved old movies and watching Maine’s basketball legend, Cindy Blodgett.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Kevin Hewes of Brewer; granddaughters, Sydney and Libby Hewes of Bangor; sister, Rosanne Bates; sister-in-law, Constance Dumont; nieces, Donna Archer, Dianne Wilson, Linda Desrochers; nephews, Kenneth Mitchell Sr., Douglas Mitchell, Robert Dumont; many other family members, as well as special friends throughout the years, Peter McPheters, Daniel and Joyce Byorak, Paul and Paula McPheters and Carl and Tina Milliken. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by wife, Barbara Dumont; sisters, Marjorie Mitchell, Loretta Dumont and Patricia Dumont; brother, Robert Dumont. A special thank you to St. Joseph’s hospice staff and Pam Carroll who helped care for Ken.
