Kenneth Galen Huntley, 96, passed away November 11th, 2023, after a long wonderful life. He was born June 29th, 1927, in Sherman, the son of Winfield S. and Myra (Bryant) Huntley.
Kenneth attended school in Hampden growing up and spend most of his life in Hampden. He worked at the Bangor Daily News for 42 years as one of their pressmen, working every night to make sure the paper came out the next day. His dedication was highlighted by the Bangor Daily throughout the years in many articles published. He married his wife, Maxine, in 1951 and they celebrated 72 years together. Kenneth was not a homebody, always ready for adventure. He enjoyed snowmobiling, hiking, camping, waterskiing, and hang-gliding. Most notably, hang-gliding off of a mountain in the winter one year. He enjoyed going for both motorcycle and car rides with Maxine, getting lost and enjoying the time spent together.
In addition to his wife, Maxine (Forsythe) Huntley, he is survived by his daughter, Elaine Gray; grandson, Joseph Gray and his wife, Gina; granddaughter, Crystal Gray and her partner, Nathan; daughter in-law, Wanda Huntley; grandchildren, Wesley and Robbie; great grandchildren, Enzo, Eli, Madeline and Alyssa; brother, Ira Huntley; sisters, Margaret Corey and Althea Huntley; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sons, Darrell and James Huntley; brothers, Winfield and George Huntley; and sister, Laura Murphy.
Funeral services will be held 11AM, Thursday, November 16th, 2023, at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Avenue, in Hampden, with interment following in Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden.
