Charleston - Kenneth Franz Hurd went home to be with his Lord on January 7, 2016 in Charleston, Maine. Kenny was born on January 6, 1966 in Milford, Connecticut to Kenneth and Valerie Hurd. In 1977, the Hurd family moved back to Maine, where Kenny spent the remainder of his life. He graduated from high school in 1986 from Foxcroft Academy.
Kenny had a very strong work ethic, and worked as a pipeliner in the natural gas pipeline industry for more than a decade. He loved traveling to various parts of the country and enjoyed the camaraderie of working with his crew mates, who affectionately called him "Bar Harbor". This strong work ethic carried out in his personal life, where Kenny was the first one to lend a hand or help with a chore.
Kenny had so many attributes that made him a truly special person. He had a boundless sense of humor and was a fantastic story-teller. Kenny was an adventurer at heart and thoroughly enjoyed his "walk-abouts." He would take long walks through the woods and enjoyed the peace and beauty of nature. He loved to come home and recount the experiences of his day...perhaps a wild animal that he spotted in the woods or people that he had met during his walks--Kenny made friends wherever he went. One of Kenny's favorite past-times was to visit with his large, extended family, where he would laugh and fondly remember the good old times.
Kenny had a very generous heart and always put the welfare of others ahead of himself--especially the elderly or those who needed assistance. Kenny will always be remembered for his kindness and for his loving, compassionate soul.
Kenny truly loved the Lord and enjoyed fellowship through regular church attendance at the Bradford Baptist Church. While we are so deeply saddened by the loss of our loved one, we are comforted in knowing that he is at peace and is with the Lord.
Kenny is survived by his loving parents, Kenneth and Valerie Hurd of Charleston; Grandmother, Nellie Wade, of Charleston; sister, Kelly Hurd of Anchorage, Alaska; and brother, Evan Hurd, of Unity. Kenny blessed our family with four sons, including Josh, Jacob, Wyatt and Preston Hurd, and three grandchildren, Jasmine, Arianna and Josiah. In addition, Kenny is survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Kenny--you were so loved by us all!
Friends and relatives are invited to join us in a Celebration of Life officiated by Pastor Donald Booker on Thursday, January 14th at 11:00 followed by fellowship and refreshments at the Bradford Baptist Church, 461 Main Road, Bradford, Maine.
