Kenneth A. Marston, age 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine surrounded by his family.
He was born in West Roxbury, Massachusetts on January 25, 1946, the son of Alwyn F. and Hilda A. (Merrill) Marston.
Ken graduated from Weymouth High School in 1964 and obtained an Associate’s Degree in 1966 from Union Junior College in New Jersey. He married Marsha Creighton on June 8, 1968 in Randolph, Massachusetts.
Ken wrote and published 3 books. He enjoyed fishing, writing, rock hounding and painting. Ken loved to make people laugh and would not let anyone get away before he was able to tell them one of his jokes, especially if it included Francis the frog. He was loved and admired by many people, and he had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.
Ken worked in many different fields, ranging from retail to chemist to, most recently, a volunteer tutor for elementary school children.
Ken is survived by his former wife, Marsha Marston, with whom he shared many memories; his daughter, Kerri Marston and her partner, David Gordon; his brother, Philip (Sandy) Marston; cousins, Frank (Margie) Stewart and Daniel (Stef) Walker; and his “daughter of the heart”, Dawn Durocher. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Neill.
The family would like to extend gratitude towards the doctors and staff of Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center for the care and compassion they provided Ken during his illness, and to all of his friends and family who were there or reached out to him and his family during his hospital stay.
Per Ken’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
“Flutter by, beautiful butterfly, looking so elegant in the sky, Just where have you been, and now where will you fly? Sit back and watch that butterfly, friend, life is too short and may soon end. Maybe someone by you will be inspired, and ask you: Just where have you been and where will you fly?”
