Kenneth Spencer

– Kenneth E. Spencer, 82, died peacefully in his sleep on October 19, 2013, at his home. He was born July 8, 1931, in Bangor, the son of John and Josephine (Thompson) Spencer. In the early years Kenneth worked at Bangor Roofing with his father, later retired from the Bangor Water District after 25 plus years. In retirement he enjoyed helping others with home repairs, and he especially enjoyed working with his hands. He loved watching westerns, camping, and his many trips to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Waterfalls were his favorite discoveries. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 63 years, Priscilla (True) Spencer; three daughters, Donna Demkow and her husband, Joseph of Ellsworth, Roxanne Russell and her husband, Ronald of Scarbourough, and Kim Kearns and her husband, Alfred of Bangor; 6 grandchildren, Tracy, Jennifer, Holly, Kenneth, Ryan and Tara; 15 great grandchildren; 6 sisters, Ellen Boudreau, Christine Seger, Mary Worcester, Priscilla Condellari, Shirley Kepple and Sharon Clark; a brother, Irving Spencer; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Kenneth is predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Leonard Spencer, Marjorie Tripp, Loretta Spencer and Elizabeth Spencer; and his favorite pet bird, Corky.
A memorial reception will be held 2-4 p.m., Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor.
