Hampden - We have lost the best of us. Born January 7, 1947, to Alice and Willard Hart, Kent passed away on September 4, 2023, after living a full and happy life.
He is survived by wife, Becky; daughters, Karen, Michelle, Krissy, Mindy, Kelly, and their spouses; seven grandchildren, Jack, Ben, Luke, Max, Everett, Olivia, and Greta. Kent is also survived by his siblings, Jeanne, Sharon, David, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
He will be joining family members he dearly missed - his parents; brothers, Bill and Rob; sister, Barbie. Kent will be especially delighted to be with his sister whom he affectionately called “Sister Sue”; dear brother, Dayton, and aunt Mim.
Kent was a jack of all trades: a farm hand, class president, soldier, machinist, tree trimmer, motor route driver, carpenter, hydro-dam operator, and telephone man. Most importantly, he was our hero, a family man who treated everyone with kindness. He sacrificed for our family, taught us community service by having us all volunteer at Hampden Children’s Day, and entertained us with his wit. Kent adored his family’s presence more than any present, and his presence will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, you may honor his memory with a donation to your favorite charity.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m., Monday, September 11 ,2023 at Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden. Please come share your stories of Kent. Despite his reputation of chronic tardiness, his survivors will be there on time.
