Kimberly “Kim” Louise Hughes- 58 of Levant passed away on the 23rd of September 2024.
Kim was born December 5, 1965, the fourth child of James and Adria (Gould) Hughes. She passed at home, surrounded by family, after a two-week battle with cancer.
Alongside her attendance at First Christian Church, Kim also spent a lot of her childhood as a Rainbow Girl. She grew up in Bangor, and then Hampden, where she met and kept many childhood friends.
Kim graduated from Hampden Academy in 1984 and went on to receive an associate’s degree from Casco Bay College in 1986. She made many friends while there. Kim was able to make friends anywhere, and often said she never met a stranger.
Having such a big heart, Kim turned to fostering many kids and adopted four children. She often remarked that she did not save her kids, they saved her. She went on to be the best “Hamma” to her precious grandchildren. Being part of their lives gave her great joy.
Her love extended past her family, as she also adopted many fur babies in her lifetime. She loved them as if they were her children.
Kim met Jim Dunn, and they were married, and divorced. Throughout it all, they remained great friends and enjoyed many adventures together.
From her years at Burger King, through college, to her time spent in the pharmacy after graduation, Kim proved to have a great work ethic, and be an entertaining co-worker. She brought her silly personality everywhere she went. She continued that as she spent years in the Levant school system, subbing and stepping in where needed.
For the last 18 years, Kim has spent her time at L.L. Bean, at the local call center, before becoming a home agent where she continued to thrive. She once again, made large groups of friends that struggle to imagine life without her laughter. In this job, she got to do what she truly loved, talk all day long, and make connections.
Kim is survived by her parents, James and Adria Hughes of Bangor, her children, Jason Hughes of Bangor, Autumn and husband Harris Smart of Levant, Kassie Hughes and partner Zack of Veazie, and Jasmine Hughes of Augusta. As well as grandchildren, Quincy, Greyson, Ronan, Adrianna, and Xyla. She is also survived by her siblings, David and wife Cathy Hughes of Eddington, Cathy and husband Reggie Emery of Minot, and Jayne and husband Steve Ray of Poland, as well as countless nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles that will miss Kim dearly.
