BANGOR – Kitty Marie Schmutte, 67, died peacefully July 25, 2014 at Eastern Maine Medical Center of natural causes. She was born November 25, 1946, the daughter of John and Goldie (McKenn) Howard.
Kitty was a unique person who loved everything about nature. She could plant and nourish until it flourished, anything from a flower to a rock. She adored animals and would loved to have shared with anyone how to rescue an infant squirrel from a snake and hand raise it as a pet. She also loved all children and was commonly referred to as “Gram” by not only her own grandchildren, but also by children in the community where ever she resided.
She was predeceased by her brother, Seth Howard; son Joshua Hampton; and grandson, Mason Lines. She is survived by her daughters, Sheryl (Huddleston) Zins and Jody Hampton both of Bangor; grandchildren, Dustin Zins, Olivia Zins, Ryan Woliung, Rebecca Woliung, Shelby Hampton, Lawson Hampton, Josha Hampton, Nicholas Hampton, William Hampton, and Joshua Hampton II.
A graveside service will be held 3 p.m., Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Maple Grove Cemetery, Pushaw Rd., Bangor, with the Rev. Grace Bartlett, officiating. Family and friends are invited to share love and refreshments immediately following at Pushaw Lake weather permitting. In honor of her unending adoration of children donations in her memory can be made to Children’s Miracle Network, C/O EMHS Foundation, P.O. Box 931, Bangor, ME 04402-0931.
