Larry Clark

May 3, 1950 — February 18, 2014

Palermo and Bangor - Larry William Clark, 63, died February 18, 2014 at his home in Palermo with family by his side after 14+ years courageously battling Cancer. He was born May 3, 1950 in Bangor the son of Herbert N. and Patricia M. (Harris) Clark. Larry married Diane Y. (Albert) Clark on November 29, 1980.
He graduated from Bangor High School in 1968. Larry then attended Beal College and Husson University where he received his accounting degree. He served in the United States Air Force and the Air National Guard in Bangor until 1978. Larry worked as an accountant for several Maine hospitals, leaving to work for Metropolitan Life for four years, and then returning to the finance departments of other hospitals. He spent his final 11 years working at Waldo County General Hospital until retiring in 2009 to spend more time with his family and enjoy life. Beginning at the age of 12, Larry became an avid golfer, winning the club championship in 1980 from the Bath Country Club playing, and placing 7th in the Paul Bunyan Amateur Golf tournament in which he played in for over 12 years. Larry also enjoyed camping, fishing at Jo Mary Lake Camp Ground as well as riding his ATV with his family. He really enjoyed the competition of card and board games. For several years Larry was a 4th Angel Mentor Volunteer with The Scott Hamilton Cares Initiative, counseling other cancer patients from several other states. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Diane (Albert) Clark of Palermo; three children Craig Saunders and his wife Heidi of Edgecomb, Wayne Saunders Jr., of Waterville, and Jonica and her husband Nicholas Frank of Somerville. Larry was extremely proud and honored to be able to love and raise such wonderful children. He also has five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister Linda Hutchins of Stillwater; two aunts Janeen Oles of Bangor and Julie Harris of Hermon; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Sunday February 23, 2014 at Brookings-Smith 133 Center St., Bangor with the Rev. Dr. Rex H. Garrett, Director of Chaplaincy Services at EMMC, officiating. Friends may call from 12:00PM until time of service. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith 163 Center St., Bangor immediately following the service.
