BANGOR/CARMEL - Larry William Pierce, 77, passed away unexpectedly October 24, 2023 at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. He was born October 29, 1945 in Hyannis, Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary H. Pierce; daughters, Carol M. Roy and her husband, Patrick, of Hampden, Cathy L. Odenborg and her husband, Erik, of Snohomish, Washington; grandchildren, Victoria Paul and her husband, Billy, of Hudson, Christian and Taylor Odenborg; great-granddaughter, Viviana Paul; sister, Karen Hodgkins of Winter Harbor; niece, Erica Bernier; nephew, Michael Pierce; great-niece, Bristol; great-nephew, Gage.
Larry was predeceased by his father, William H. Pierce; mother, Kay E. (Smallidge) Pierce; and brother, Billy Pierce.
Larry was a graduate of Sumner Memorial High School, class of 1963. Larry spent four years in the Air Force Stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma as an airplane mechanic. He retired as a firefighter from the department of defense, he was employed at Winter Harbor Navy Base and Brunswick Naval Air Base. Prior to, he spent many years at Maine Shellfish in Ellsworth.
Larry loved hunting, golfing, people, and being with family, playing games, picnics at the shore, family get togethers including his wife’s family in the south. He loved reading his bible and fellowshipping with his fellow Christians and the CARE group.
He was an active member of the Hermon Baptist Church. Those who wish to remember Larry in a special way may make donations in his memory to the Hermon Baptist Church, 2496 Route 2, Hermon, Maine, 04401.
Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at the Hermon Baptist Church, 2496 Route 2, Hermon, immediately followed by a memorial service at 2:00p.m. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the fellowship following the service.
