BANGOR – Laura Zwanziger, 41, passed away unexpectedly on December 29, 2019 at her home. She was born in Wasilla, Alaska on March 26, 1978, the daughter of Howard Zwanziger and Nadine Cole.
Laura had a heart full of love, she loved her family and would get very excited when she knew she was going to see them, and she loved her dog, Buttercup. She had a very special bond with her nana Dodie. She will be forever remembered for her cheerful smile and hearty laugh. Laura enjoyed many activities such as her day program at Downeast horizons, eating out, shopping, singing, dancing and endless crafts.
Laura was a Special Olympics athlete, who won many metals such as gold Metals in shot- put and softball with many other second and third place metals throughout the years. She showed her love for singing by competing in the special Olympics American idol contest where she sang ( Everything I do I do for you ) it proved to be the winning performance.
In addition to her mother, Nadine “ Deanie” Holland and her husband, Mike, Laura is survived by her father, Howard Zwanziger and his wife, Lynne; Laura’s fiancé, Chris, the love of her life who brought her so much joy, laughter, friendship and kindness. Laura and Chris had an abundance of love toward each other. Nana Dodie Bell; sister, Kristy Martin and her fiancée, Bonnie Lindsey; Aunts, Diane Moseley, Dee Okane, and Ute Cole, uncles, Mike Suire, Lee Hoover, and Rickey Cole; niece, Elyce Martin; great-nephews, Noah and Sebastian; cousins, Josh and Ryan Hoover, and Shawn and Cristin Cole and her best friends, Anita and Paula.
Laura was predeceased by her great grandmother, Frances Turner; grandfathers, Roy Cole and Doodie Bell, step father, David Emery, and her Uncle, Jeff Veilleux.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation for Rena Getchell for her dedication and providing support services and love to Laura and along with Sweetser for their ongoing support, guidance and comfort during this difficult time. Laura’s family extends their gratitude to Bonita for her dedication, love, loyalty and friendship to both Laura and Laura’s family.
