Laurette Paradis

Bangor – Laurette M. Paradis, 99, died November 29, 2013 at a local nursing facility. She was born January 28, 1914 in Frenchville the daughter of John I. and Laura (Ouellette) Michaud. Laurette was the oldest of 15 siblings, 5 of which passed at a very young age. She helped raise the rest with her mother and father. Laurette received her certificate in professional sewing from her mentor Madame Hilaire Bouchard at the age of 16. When she was 18, Laurette met Phillip Louie Paradis and they were married at the age of 21. After Phillip returned from World War II they moved to Fairfield and started settle their roots, and finally ended up Bangor where they retired. They celebrated 72 years of marriage together. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters Germaine and Priscilla; brothers Raoul, Leo James, Philemon, and Mark. Laurette is survived by her daughter Joyce Douglass of Bangor; son Maurice Paradis and wife Fey of Fayetteville NC; grandchildren Steve, Cynthia, Scott, Stanley, Shelton, and Pam; brother Gerald and sisters: Rita, and Theresa; great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 5-7pm Friday December 6, 2013 at Brookings-Smith 133 Center St., Bangor. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:00am Saturday December 7, 2013 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John Catholic Church 207 York St., Bangor. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Church Parish Hall immediately following the burial.
