Lauris “Ike” M. Hodsdon, 81, passed away peacefully March 13, 2014, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was March 29, 1932, n Carmel the son of Guy and Edwina (Philbrick) Hodsdon.
Lauris grew up in Carmel and married the love of his life June (Duplissa) Hodsdon in 1959. They were married for 54 wonderful years and June predeceased him on January 12, 2014. June and Lauris owned and operated the Char Grill in Carmel for many years. Lauris served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for the B & A Railroad for 31 years until his retirement. Lauris was a member and Past Master of the Benevolent Lodge #87 of Carmel. He enjoyed feeding his birds, wild turkeys and walking his favorite little dog “Spunky”. Lauris also enjoyed visiting Hollywood Casino on karaoke night and was known to bet on a horse or two. He was a deeply devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be sadly missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his son, Stanley Allen and wife Belinda of Carmel; a brother Philip Hodsdon and wife Marylyn of Portland; grandchildren, Andrea “Boo Boo”, Denise, Stanley, DJ, Kiana “Pizzy Wizzle”;six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a dear friend, Lee Higgins; sisters-in-law, Mary Gilbert and Pat Duplissa; and a brother-in-law, Adolph Duplissa and wife Barbara.
Friends may call from 2-4 PM, Sunday, March 16, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. Interment will be in the spring at Highland Cemetery, Carmel.
