Laurissa Grindle

ORONO - Laurissa P. Grindle, 89, died December 7, 2023, at Maine Veterans’ Home, in Bangor. She was born December 22, 1933, in Westbrook, Maine, the daughter of Aime and Marie (Richard) Thibeault.

Laurissa attended St. Hyacinth Catholic School in Westbrook and graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1979, and briefly attended the University of Maine, Orono. On February 15, 1958, she married Bryce W. Grindle, of Old Town, Maine. They moved to Orono and raised three children.

Laurissa spent time raising their children in Orono by supporting them in school, sports, music and scouting activities. Laurissa and Bryce enjoyed traveling, time at their camp on Pleasant River Lake and spent ten years wintering in Florida. She remained close to her siblings and often would visit and write to them. Her life’s passion was crafting and she was an accomplished seamstress. Her knitting skills were appreciated by all family members with yearly gifts of hats and mittens.

Surviving, are her son, Steven Grindle and his wife, Brenda, of Portland, Maine, and their daughter, Rachel, of Denver, Colorado; son, Michael Grindle and his wife, Barbara, of Bangor, Maine and their sons, Ryan Grindle and his wife, Erin and son, Jackson, of Bangor, Maine, and Tyler Grindle and his fiancée, Stavroula, with their daughter, Elena, of Hermon, Maine; daughter, Sharon Dunn and her husband, Michael, of Bangor, Maine and their children, Heather and her husband, Kirk, and their children, Molly and Owen, of Orono, Maine, Casey and Tim Bissell, and their daughters, Nora and Phoebe, of Biddeford, Maine, Kathleen and Liam of Bangor, Maine; sister, Jackie Carver, of Richmond, Virginia. In addition to her parents and husband, Bryce, Laurissa was predeceased by her siblings, Raymond, Arthur, Diana, Cecile and Lorraine.

The family would like to extend heart-felt thanks to the Maine Veterans’ Home of Bangor, Maine for the excellent care and compassion they showed to Laurissa during her stay.
