HAMPDEN - Leigh Ray Richards, 50, died unexpectedly on December 8, 2020 at his home in Hampden. He was born May 1, 1970 in Presque Isle, the son of Clinton J. and Diane (Wolverton) Parsons.
He was a graduate of Bangor High School, class of 1990. Thereafter he was employed by BAC/SOMIC AMERICA, INC. of Brewer for 23 years, and of late by BAFS, INC./Diversified Foods and Service Company of Bangor.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Russell Richards and his wife, Trudy of Hampden and their children, Brandon, Ryan, Sarah and Brianna; sister, Heather Parsons of Camden, Maine; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
We who knew Leigh will sadly miss how much he was one to make his way through life to the beat of his own drum. While we each hold special memories of our times with him, we will never forget his appetite for steak and lobster at family gatherings and his fondness for sports—especially football and baseball, and the seemingly limitless cards he collected well into his adult years. We will also carry in our hearts always an appreciation for the loyalty and hard work he brought to his workplaces, as well as his close friendships. No one valued overtime more than Leigh, and in the words of Randy, one such friend for over 20 years, Leigh was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone.
Leigh’s life will be celebrated by a gathering of family and friends next spring to early summer pending the coronavirus pandemic, the details for which will be announced.
