Leon Trenholm

May 27, 1927 — November 26, 2014

Camden and Topsham – Leon S. “Mike” Trenholm, 87, died peacefully November 26, 2014 at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 27, 1927, in Bangor, the son of Thomas S. and Erma (Feeney) Trenholm.

Mike attended high school in Old Town and in Pittsfield. After graduation he went to the University of Maine in Orono. He didn’t graduate because he answered the call to serve his country in the United States Army, where he worked in logistics. After his discharge from the Army he worked for the U. S. Postal Service. Later he began his career as a stockbroker at Hornblower & Weeks in Bangor, eventually working for Merrill Lynch in Boston and Portland. Mike was an avid fisherman and bird hunter, and raising and training English Setters. He loved to sail in Bayside, Maine where he was a Commodore of the Northport Yacht Club; ski at Sugarloaf, and play golf just about anywhere. He enjoyed following baseball with his daughter and played a mean game of cribbage.

Mike is survived by his daughter, LeeAnn Horowitz and husband Richard of Searsport; his son Steven Trenholm and wife Sally of Cumberland Foreside; his sister Helene “Pug” Wright of Bangor; a special niece, Gail (Wright) Waite and husband Darrell of Bangor; a special nephew John T. Wright and wife Rosalie of Gloucester, MA; and his beloved cat, Miss Smokey. In addition to his parents, Mike was predeceased by his wife Pamela (Short) Trenholm; and brother-in-law John H. Wright.

The family would like to give special thanks to the caring staff and residents of Camden Hills Villa in Camden, Maine where he was fortunate to spend his last months in his room by the water … right where he wanted to be; and to the nurses and doctors at Penobscot Bay Medical Center Special Care Unit and at EMMC Cardiac Surgical Care Unit.

There will be a private graveside service with military honors at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Bangor in the spring. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
