Bangor and Machias - Leslie "Les" Harold Sinford, 70, passed quickly and peaceful on March 3, 2021, at a local hospital from a major stroke. He was born July 28, 1950, in Machias, the son of the late David Jr. and Bernice (Roberts) Sinford.
Leslie graduated from Machias Memorial High School in 1969, and went on to serve three years in the U.S. Army which included one tour of duty in Vietnam. After military service, he worked a variety of jobs until landing positions with his two long-term employers. He was employed by McDonnell Douglas Helicopter in Culver City, CA, as a chemical processor and later as pre-wastewater treatment system operator. After the plant closed in 1994, he moved to Albany and was hired as a receiving associate with The Home Depot, and later transferred to the new Bangor store. Eventually he connected with V.A. and also became a lifetime member of both the Vietnam Veterans of America and the Disabled America Veterans.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Dennis, and then by his brother, William Sr. or "Billy”.
Leslie is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Michelle; as well as his siblings, Paul, Jane Stackpole, Barbara Frye, Robert “Bob” and James "Jim.” He is also survived by a very large extended family, as well as many special friends.
